Ji

Ji Zhang is a qualified urban planner and completed both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Tong Ji University, Shanghai, China. She worked in Shanghai for a year in a planning department for the local government dealing with planning review and application approvals. She then moved to London where she gained her MSc in Advanced Architectural Studies from UCL.

Ji joined Space Syntax as a consultant in 2004 and became an Associate in 2007. She has been working on various urban and building projects within the UK and abroad and specialises in spatial modelling and analytical aspects.

She has presented her thesis, titled Interaction between Space and Function in Clerkenwell, London from a historical perspective at the 5th International Space Syntax Symposium and also co-edited a special issue of World Architecture (Beijing, China) about Space Syntax which was published in November 2005.

Ji is especially interested in urban morphology and its relation to land use patterns throughout the time.
