Ed

Ed Parham joined Space Syntax as an associate in October 2006, and is a registered architect with a background in urban work.

Ed qualified as an Architect in 2005 with particular experience in the masterplanning, retail, and education sectors. Prior to joining Space Syntax he spent three years working at BDP developing a retail lead, mixed use, masterplan for a historic town centre in South West London. The project development and delivery process was founded on the building of a close working relationship between the client team and the local authority, and involved the sensitive inclusion of, and negotiation with the many stakeholders present in an established historic town centre. The masterplan covered a wide range of scales, from defining an overall project vision, and the large scale design of individual elements such as a 20k sq m department store for a leading UK retailer, to the treatment of an existing grade II listed post office building.

Academically, Ed’s thesis work focussed on creating architectural interventions in the historic fabric of Barcelona, and exploiting the local and regional effects of the proposals as a means to realising a large scale urban strategy. The project engaged with the strategic and the poetic, and further developed an interest in the urban condition that has extended throughout his professional career. The project won the RIBA South East excellence in design award and was nominated for the RIBA silver medal.
