Space Syntax Limited’s consulting services are built on solid research foundations. Our strategic design skills are complemented by extensive, in-house research into the design factors influencing functional performance. We undertake this work for public and private sector clients seeking new knowledge to evaluate, shape and support their business aims. We also carry out our own research to continuously update and develop the consulting services we offer. Space Syntax enjoys close ties with the Space Group at the Bartlett School of Graduate Studies, University College London.
We act as industrial sponsors and partners in academic research projects throughout the world. Our staff members speak regularly at business and academic conferences. We sponsor the two-yearly International Space Syntax Symposium which brings together researchers and practitioners in space syntax.
Each of these research connections gives our work an intellectual rigour. Together, they ensure that we incorporate the latest knowledge in our consulting activities. In turn, the experiences we gain from practice help us to shape the next generation of research activity by defining the key research questions. This two-way process forges strong, mutually beneficial ties between the worlds of academia and industry, and helps define our research-based approach to consultancy.
