Maia Lemlij qualified as an architect in Peru. She completed her bachelor's degree at Universidad Ricardo Palma, Lima, where she achieved her honours status whilst working at an architectural practice for two years.
Her career led her to a London-based architectural practice, and in 2003 she continued her academic training at University College London (UCL). She completed an MSc in Advanced Architectural Studies with a thesis on High Security Mental Hospitals.
Maia joined Space Syntax as a consultant in 2004 and became an Associate in 2006. In the past year she has been involved in a number of interdisciplinary projects which range from strategic urban design to strategic design of complex buildings both in the UK and abroad. Amongst other masterplanning projects, Maia has been involved in the Stratford City redevelopment in London, the redevelopment of Birmingham Eastside, Jeddah's Strategic Planning Framework in Saudi Arabia and a number of Area Action Plans (AAP) for local authorities.
