Beatriz

Maria Beatriz de Arruda Campos registered as an architect in Brazil. She graduated from Mackenzie University, São Paulo and continued her training at the Medical Architecture Research Unit, London Metropolitan University and the Bartlett School of Graduate Studies, University College London. Beatriz joined Space Syntax as a Research Assistant in 1994, and became an Associate Director in 2005.

In the past seven years Beatriz has been involved in more than 100 urban and building projects in the UK and abroad, including large scale master plans, design appraisals of mixed use developments and fine scale design of public squares.

Beatriz lectures at the Bartlett Graduate School and regularly presents at conferences and symposiums, such as the Walk21 conference and the international Space Syntax symposiums. Her interests lie in the relationship between urban configuration and patterns of space use, in particular the performance of public spaces and the quality of the urban realm.
